Mira Nair's political thriller The Reluctant Fundamentalist is going to open the Venice Film Festival's 69th edition.
Nair's adaptation of Mohsin Hamid's bestseller is about a young Pakistani who goes from working in Wall Street to be getting involved in a serious conflict at his homeland.
The film stars Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson, Kiefer Sutherland, Live Schreiber, Martin Donovan, Om Puri and Shabana Azmi.
Nair's Monsoon Wedding had won the 2001 Golden Lion at Venice.
The festival is set to take place from August 29 to September 8.
