Initially, actor Sanjay Dutt was supposed to play the role of the honourable Pathan Sher Khan in Apoorva Lakhia's 'Zanjeer Remake' before it was declared that Arjun Rampal will be essaying the role, played by Pran in the original 'Zanjeer'.

Hwoever, buzz now has it that Rampal has bowed out of the project due to date issues, leaving the coast clear for the deadly Dutt to don the pathani again. Rampal confirmed the news and was quoted saying that he had to opt out of the project as his dates were clashing with another film by Nikhil Advani and that it would be unfair to ask the makers of 'Zanjeer Remake' to wait for him. The hunky model turned actor however claimed that the character of Sher Khan was an iconic one and that any actor would love to play the role.

A remake of the 70s blockbuster 'Zanjeer', which was responsible for giving Amitabh Bachchan the 'Angry Young Man' tag, this Apoorva Lakhia directed film will have Ram Charan Teja play the role of Inspector Vijay Khanna. Apart from Dutt and Teja, the film will also star Priyanka Chopra, Mahie Gill and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles.

Debutante producer Saurabh Varma has bought the rights of the Hollywood film Buried that released in 2010. A source close to Varma has revealed that he is planning to have either John Abraham or Abhishek Bachchan play the lead role in the remake.

Varma was quoted saying that he wants an A-list actor for the lead and that they are looking at developing a good script because it is a Hollywood concept, and needs to be adapted for Indian audiences.

Apparently, the producer has already discussed the idea with Arjun Rampal.

Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds played the lead in the original. The film is about an American truck driver working in Iraq. After an attack, he finds himself buried inside a coffin with a lighter and a mobile phone and tries to escape.

Actor Arjun Rampal, who is set to play a tough cop in the forthcoming Prakash Jha film Chakravyuh, has done a special appearance in Saurabh Shukla's forthcoming film I M 24. The actor, who is set to play himself in the film, has apparently not charged a single penny for this role.

Although Saurabh and Arjun haven't worked together in a film before, the two are friends and go back a long way. I M 24 is a comedy starring Rajat Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey, Neha Dhupia and Manjari Fadnis. The film is about a 42-year-old balding writer and an honest man who hates lying till he falls in love with a 22-year-old girl. The story is based on a real incident.

Arjun Rampal will also be seen in Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming film Heroine featuring Kareena Kapoor.

Model turned actor Arjun Rampal, who will be next seen playing the role of a tough anti-Naxal cop in Prakash Jha's upcoming hard-hitting drama Chakravyuh, has much to thank Jha for, it seems.

The hunky actor, who has been born and brought up in an urban environment, claims that working on Chakravyuh was a real eye-opener for him as it made him understand the Naxal issue. Rampal admitted that he was initially unaware about the Naxal issues that are plaguing the country, but working on the movie and interacting with Jha made him more knowledgeable about the plight of the affected people. In the film, Arjun's character will be seen torn between his duty and friendship after his best friend Abhay Deol turns to Naxalism.

Chakravyuh boasts of an impressive star cast comprising Om Puri, Abhay Deol, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee and Esha Gupta.

In Prakash Jha's Chakravyuh, Arjun Rampal will be doing a couple of intimate lovemaking scenes with his co-star Esha Gupta. Such scenes used to make him very nervous during his early days in the film industry, but now he enacts them without getting stressed.

The actor states that he has shed all his inhibitions about doing intimate scenes. He says, "When I shot my first intimate scene for Raajneeti, I got little hesitant. I was like Oh my god, ye main kaise kar paunga, ye main kyu kar rha huun. But, then I thought that at the end of the day that's a part of my job and I have to do it. So, now when I shoot for any intimate scenes I just take it in my stride and do it."

Arjun further added, "Intimate scenes are done when the script demands. It doesn't make sense forcing it. In Chakravyuh, it's done in a very sensitive way. Only Indians come from a sense that sex is a taboo. But now our new generation doesn't take it that way. If you are a part of a good film, you will get the best. So, in Chakravyuh, the intimate scenes are incorporated in the right manner."

Chakravyuh, also starring Abhay Deol, Manoj Bajpayee and Om Puri, is set to release on October 12.

Actor Arjun Rampal, who will be seen playing the role of a superstar in Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine, said that he is clueless as to why actresses are insecure.

The film Heroine starring Kareena Kapoor revolves around the ups and downs faced by a successful actress in the film industry.

At the launch of the theatrical trailer, "The film does not show dark side of the industry. The good part is that Madhur has been able to stick to the character of a heroine, what her state of mind is like and that actresses do get insecure. I still wonder why, as they don't sit on edit table, or discuss budget, or are present in producer's meeting, or involved at scripting stage, they sit with hair and make-up done."

Actor Arjun Rampal was apparently overjoyed when Madhur Bhandarkar signed him up for Heroine opposite Kareena Kapoor.

However, latest reports suggest that Arjun Rampal is actually miffed with the director for the way his character has shaped up in the film. He isn't too comfortable with Kareena stealing all the limelight.

Certain crew members have noticed that Arjun doesn't look happy on the sets.

However, Bhandarkar has rubbished the rumours saying that Arjun is very happy with the film.

Heroine is set to hit the screens on September 14, 2012.
