The recently-released Ajay Devgn-Abhishek Bachchan film Bol Bachchan had run into controversy when the producer of the film, Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd., were involved in a legal battle. The company's account had been sealed, hence stalling the payment of the crew amounting to Rs. 26 lakhs.
However, the latest news is that director Rohit Shetty has come to the producers' rescue and has paid the crew out of his own pocket. When Rohit learnt about the unpaid dues of the crew, he called them and handed over the amount on Friday night.
A source close to the film was quoted saying that Ashtavinayak will be returning the amount to Rohit by this week itself. Bol Bachchan, starring Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Prachi Desai and Asin, released on July 6 this year and grossed more than 100 crore at the box office.
Bol Bachchan is gearing up to become one of the biggest blockbusters of the year and its leading pair, Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn, cannot wait to throw a big success party.
However, they will have to wait a little longer as Amitabh Bachchan is not in the country. The actor, who was seen carrying the London Olympic torch yesterday, is expected to be back in India only on August 5. It appears that Big B is keen to be a part of the Bol Bachchan celebrations. Hence, Ajay and Abhishek will wait for Amitabh Bachchan to comeback till they can throw a massive party for two occasions, the legendary actor's achievement of having carried the Olympic torch as well as the success of the film.

The masala entertainer, which opened to huge collection figures of Rs 43.10 crores net in India in the 1st weekend itself, maintained its steady collections over the box office even in the third week! The action-comedy flick collected a massive Rs. 66.81 crore in its 1st week and Rs.24.12 crores in the 2nd week. The film then amassed a whopping Rs 9.33 crore in week 3, taking the total box office collections to Rs.100.26 crore net.
After Golmaal 3 and Singham, this is the third Shetty-Devgn flick to cross the 100 crore mark. The film, which was loosely inspired from famous rib-tickling comedy Gol Maal starring Amol Palekar and Utpal Dutt, revolved around a young man, who has to keep lying to maintain a secret identity. The film also starred Asin and Prachi Desai as female leads.
Masala director Rohit Shetty's last film Bol Bachchan starring Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan was a major hit and is soon expected to join the coveted 100 crore club and this possibly has made Shetty flirt with the idea of bringing out a sequel to the movie, claim sources.
At a recent interview, Shetty was quoted saying that he is quite open to the idea of a sequel provided he gets an original idea that works. Shetty also added that he has had enough of South and old Bollywood remakes. Apart from this, Shetty is also gearing up for Singham 2, in which Ajay Devgn will reprise his role as upright cop Bajirao Singham.

Music album of Bol Bachchan creates a mood of festivity and the kind of celebration which is as melodious as the big name involved - Bachchan. Core strength of the album is Himesh Reshammiya who has not gone over the board to experiment with the music. It seems like he firmly believed that at times going over board may land you no where. On the toughest pitches even Sachin Tendulkar sticks to the basics and Himesh has stuck to these basics and finally scored a boundary century. Even the arrangements are simple but add on to the overall effect.
Album has a total of 8 songs, 4 original and rest being their remixes. Original tracks are all amazing and it becomes difficult to rate which one is the best of all.
Track one, Bol Bachchan, starts as a tribute to the great work of My Name is Anthony Gonsalves (Amar Akbar Anthony) where a horrendous game of words is played by the magnanimous name - Mr. Bachachan. Looks like Himesh has made Sr. Bachchan work hard for the song and he too has competed well with best of singers. This Farhad-Sajid written song has a certain quality; it is for all age groups - Bache, Budhe aur Jawan. The remix is as good as the original and equally enjoyable. It has been made especially for the discotheques and dance parties.
In track two, Shabbir Ahmed written Chalao Na Naino Sa, Himesh is back with a bang as a singer after a brief period of lull. The first few words tell the whole story of the song; it is melodious, amazing and a hit in the making. What is best about the song is that, it has given due respect to the instrument that has been the backbone of Indian music – Harmonium. This has made the song even more attractive. Shreya Ghoshal has also complemented Himesh well and competed well to make everyone realize that a song can not only be running on his name and she is an equal partner in all the fun. This one, just like the first track, will surely do well in the masses. The remix, though using drums to a good effect, is just similar to the original and doesn't cover much distance.
Track three, Nach Le Nach Le, is another song to mark the mood of celebration and festivity. A celebratory number, it sees Sukhwinder in a full form. He has always done justice to the work that has ever come his way and with his strong voice; he ensures that the song becomes enjoyable all over again. Guest composers Ajay-Atul are in good form here and Swanand Kirkire's lyrics only add on further weight to the song. Same can't be said though about the remix where one does feel that it could have carried much more spunk.
With the next track, Jab Sa Dekhi Ha, Mohit Chauhan shows that he can be a part of a really happy outing as well instead of just demonstrating the pathos of a character. His amazing voice in a Sufi rendition is always a pleasure to hear. Mohit's voice is complemented well in the song by good and simple lyrics by Sameer, hence proving all over again that being simple more often than not pays. Thankfully the remix is a tad better here as well and one can see that there is some good effort behind it.
Overall, the album has the kind of instant masala which can be expected to rule the world of parties, marriages, social gatherings and discotheques. Though it isn't quite the kind that makes for a memorable outing, for the purpose of film it ensures there are enough hit tunes to cheer about.

Bol Bachchan Review: Story Plot - A young man Abbas Ali (Abhishek Bachchan) and his sister Sania (Asin) migrate from Delhi to Ranakpur when they lose their ancestral property to greedy relatives. In Ranakpur, with the aid of a family friend Ravi Shastri (Krushna Abhisheik), Abbas is forced to change his identity and impersonate as a Hindu named 'Abhishek Bachchan' to avoid communal tension when he breaks into a locked temple to rescue a drowning boy. Impressed with his valour, Prithvi Raghuvanshi (Ajay Devgn), a stickler for honesty and truth, hires him on as a supervisor of his estate. However, things get out of hand when 'Abhishek' has to keep on lying to save himself from being discovered as Abbas Ali. Bol Bachchan Review - Performances: Shetty favourite Ajay Devgn is in top form as the short tempered pehelwan with a penchant for translating Hindi proverbs in broken English, with hilarious results. What works for Devgn is his deadpan comedy and his bouts of anger, which had made us laugh in the Golmaal series too. Abhishek Bachchan is quite passable as Abbas Ali but it is when he pretends to be the pansy twin that he makes us guffaw in delight. Bachchan Jr, who has not tried an out and out comedy film in a long time, sure shows promise in Bol Bachchan. Unfortunately, Prachi Desai and Asin do not get to do much. Having said that, special mention should be made of Krushna Abhisheik, an actor who has made us laugh on the small screen with his comic timing. Krushna, a relative of the inimitable Govinda, brings the same magic to the big screen with his debut film and is an absolute delight to watch, whether he is bickering with his father Asrani or coming up with fresh lies at the last minute to save Abhishek's skin. Bol Bachhan Review: Direction - Director Rohit Shetty has claimed time and again that Bol Bachchan is loosely inspired from Hrishikesh Mukherjee's laugh riot Gol Maal and Shetty is gracious enough to doff his hat to the cult classic in quite a few scenes in the movie. Like all Rohit Shetty films, Bol Bachchan has its share of wacky humour, crazy characters, action scenes that defy the laws of physics and of course, cars that fly across the screen and perform somersaults in slow motion. Though the film starts with some melodrama about ancestral property and greedy relatives, things start getting funny when Devgn and Krushna Abhisheik enter the frame. However, though the movie is an enjoyable watch, this reviewer does feel that Shetty could have replaced some of the action sequences with more humorous situations and could have easily done away with unnecessary characters and angles like Devgn's evil cousin and their dispute over some power plant, which is anyways vaguely touched upon by Shetty.
Bol Bachchan Review: Music - The music of the film is not really memorable, except maybe for the title song, which plays at the beginning of the movie. Amitabh Bachchan as always is a delight to watch because of his easy grace and chemistry with son Abhishek, as he mouths Big B's unforgettable lines from his earlier movies like Mard and Amar Akbar Anthony.

However with the producers revealing day by day collections (and hence making themselves accountable for what they declared), the picture was clearer.
While trade numbers have ranged between 60-63 crore opening week, the producers have declared ~67 crores and one has to go by that. Such numbers have now also given a good platform for the film to strengthen its march towards the 100 crore mark, something that looked impossible after the first couple of days. Is the Ajay Devgn starrer still there to guarantee itself a breezy run for being yet another entry into the century club? Not really because it is the weekdays from this point on that would decide its eventual fate. After all, Cocktail is all set to dominate in the multiplexes in this weekend itself.
Whether the two films would now compete with each other for supremacy or live amicably with each other is yet to be seen. However one thing is for sure that in single screens at the least, it would be Bol Bachchan that would bol better. Nevertheless, even if the film doesn't touch the 100 crore mark, one thing is for sure that going by the producer's total, the Rohit Shetty film is now all set to cross 90 crores at the least. The film's success has shown yet again that audience want to have some good fun in theatres and though one still feels that with some more humour, the film could have matched the scale of Golmaal series or All The Best, the very fact that it has still done so well further consolidates the brand building and loyal following that Ajay-Rohit films are enjoying today.
Exactly a year after Singham arrives Bol Bachchan which brings Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty together again. An annual fixture for the duo which has time and again paid dividends, yet another success is pretty much on the cards. However one has to add that the film, for which the promotion started on a very promising note 6-7 weeks ago, had it's newer set of promos as plain average. Though that should not make a very huge difference to the film's fortunes, one does feel that records won't really be broken here.
Nevertheless, Bol Bachchan should open better than Singham as well as Golmaal 3, both of which managed to do exceedingly well due to sustained word of mouth and entered the 100 crore club. This means that while opening in the range of 60%-70% is pretty much on the cards, it would be a stretch for the film to see a 50 crore opening weekend. As of now, the first three days should see over 40 crores being accumulated which should still be a good result for this Golmaal remake that has Abhishek Bachchan in a pivotal role. However it would be interesting to see if the film indeed goes on to enter the 100 crore club.
If at all that happens, there are quite a few accomplishments in the making. Ajay Devgn would become the only actor other than Salman Khan to have three 100 crore hits. Asin would have four to her name, hence coming neck to neck with Kareena Kapoor. Rohit Shetty would become the only director to not just top the game with three centuries but even score a hat trick. Meanwhile Abhishek would not just enter the elusive club but also score a hit after a long time.

Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn, who had everyone rolling in the aisles with laughter with their recent flick Bol Bachchan, also managed to bring a delighted smile to the faces of some underprivileged kids from the Smile Foundation this Sunday.
It seems that Shetty and Devgn interacted with their little fans at Mehboob Studios and the two were quite touched when the children presented them with a huge and colourful card as a token of their love and affection. Needless to say, the kids charmed the duo, who were seen distributing chocolates and other goodies to the little ones.
Shetty and Devgn, who teamed up for hit films like the Golmaal series, Singham and Bol Bachchan will next work on the sequel to Singham, which Shetty claims is a fresh story and not a remake of any other flick.
