Rani Mukerji is so fond of choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant that she readily agreed to wait for her to get free and direct her dance numbers in Aiyya.
Rani has three item numbers in the film, co-produced by Anurag Kashyap and Viacom 18.
Sources claim that Rani waited for over two months to start shooting of Aiyya so that she could get Vaibhavi on board.
The reason was that the film demanded a lot of rigorous dance routines which she thought only Vaibhavi will be able to do justice to.
Aiyya, directed by Sachin Kundalkar, is said to be about a woman who gets attracted to a man because he smells good. Rani plays a Marathi girl and is paired opposite southern star Prithvi Raj in the film. Out of the three dance numbers in the film, one is a traditional Lavani song.
Aiyya is set to release on October 26.

Bollywood brat Salman Khan might have been called many things, but 'shy' is certainly not one of them. However, it seems that Vaibhavi Merchant, who choreographed the mashallah song in the upcoming spy flick Ek Tha Tiger, has claimed that the Dabangg dude has a shy side too!
Merchant claims that while shooting for the song, when she had to help him change his look or certain parts of his costume, she discovered that Khan is quite shy about people touching him. Needless to say, Merchant was quite amazed at this side of Sallu, as he is popularly known.
Directed by Kabir Khan, Ek Tha Tiger stars Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif and revolves around the adventures of an Indian spy code-named 'Tiger', as he goes on a mission to battle anti-national elements.
