Actor Ranbir Kapoor refused to confirm reports that he will be seen opposite Kareena Kapoor in Zoya Akhtar's next film. At a promotional event for his upcoming film Barfi!, he said "Nothing has been confirmed as of now. We are very close friends so we keep talking, but nothing is confirmed."

The actor also added that he would love to direct and produce a film under the RK Films banner, but that he doesn't have the time at the moment. He said, "I have been saying that I want to direct and produce a film. But I am very busy and this is my fault only that I don't have time. I am conscious about it and I really hope that I can make movies soon."

As of now, Ranbir is very excited for his father, Rishi Kapoor's birthday and there are plans to celebrate it in Dubai.

He said, "The full family is going to Dubai for his birthday. We will be leaving on September 3. It's an important event for us in our lives and in my family. We are very excited and we love celebrating his birthday. So we will have a good time."

The actor, turning 30 this September, himself had no big plans for the day.


He will next be seen in Anurag Basu's Barfi!, which also stars Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has been a fan of the legendary Charlie Chaplin ever since he was a young boy. Who knew that one day he would be doing a film where he too would be required to communicate in a manner similar to Chaplin during the era of silent films?

Ranbir's grandfather Raj Kapoor's 1951 film Awaara had the legendary actor playing a tramp which took references from Chaplin.

Buzz is that when Anurag Basu offered Ranbir the role of Murphy in Barfi!, Kapoor decided to take a trip to New York to watch a Broadway show titled Chaplin - The Musical to prepare for the role.

Even as a child, Ranbir had seen the show a number of times. Apparently, Ranbir was so keen to learn the mannerisms in detail that he remained in New York for a week, to be able to catch the same show seven days in a row.

Ranbir was quoted saying that although the play was an inspiration, they did not copy or try to replicate anything from the show in the film.

Barfi!, directed by Anurag Basu and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz, is set to release on September 14.

Recently, after Priyanka Chopra got herself tattooed on her arm, her Barfi! co-actor Ranbir Kapoor had also followed suit with a fake tattoo on his arm as a joke. However, the actor recently revealed that he is quite afraid of the painful process that is associated with getting a tattoo.

At a recent promotional event of Barfi!, Ranbir said, "I had done the tattoo as a joke, but in real life, am very scared of tattoos. In fact, I remember that when I got my ears pierced, I had cried for two days!"

Ranbir Kapoor's character, from his upcoming film Barfi! is garnering a lot of attention and apparently Ranbir took inspiration from his late grandfather's onscreen characters, for his look in the movie.

Ranbir's look in Barfi! has a lot in common with Raj Kapoor's look in Awara and Shree 420. The 29-year-old actor essays the role of Murphy aka Barfi, who is deaf and mute, in the film. Kapoor is seen with a thin moustache in the flick and will also be seen donning a hat and carrying an umbrella, very much akin to his granddad's filmy avatar.

Anurag Basu, the director of the film agrees, that his lead actor's look is inspired by the likes of Raj Kapoor, Charlie Chaplin and Roberto Benigni. He took pointers from their onscreen characters because he wanted to make Murphy lovable.

Barfi! also stars Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'cruz in the lead roles alongside the Rockstar and is slated to hit the big screens on September 14, 2012.

Ever since Barfi! went on floors, there has been tremendous speculation around the part that Ranbir Kapoor plays in his film. While it was declared quite early in the day that he would be playing a deaf and mute young man in the film, there was also a strong buzz around him imitating Charlie Chaplin for a large part of the narrative. The theatrical promo that was recently unveiled further reaffirmed the fact that there were definite characteristic traits of the legendary actor that Ranbir had adopted for the film. Now that the film is gearing up for release, director Anurag Basu uncovers the mystery.

"Let me be honest here. The whole Chaplin influence was not there in the script when Ranbir came on board. In fact till the first day of the film's shoot, we hadn't planned anything around these lines. It is just that as we progressed, it was felt that certain scenes would be elevated if Ranbir got into that mode. So yes, there is silence in the film, something which is the core of it, and there is a Chaplin layer to it as well that has been introduced. However it isn't as if Ranbir is imitating Charlie Chaplin throughout the film. You can pretty much make out from the promo itself that Barfi! isn't set in Chaplin-sque mode", says Anurag.

What was decided though much before the film went on floors was to feature Ranbir Kapoor as the central protagonist in it. The youngster was Anurag's first choice and at least momentarily he didn't really have a Plan B in place in case Ranbir would have opted out.

"When I started work on the film, it was on a blank slate", says Anurag who has to credit films like Life In A Metro, Gangster and Murder, "As and when I moved ahead with the story, I realised that the only person who would have fit into the role was Ranbir. All other characters, including that of Priyanka Chopra, came in later. In fact I approached Ranbir also when everything was completed on paper."

Now we wait to see how it translates on the big screen as well once the film releases all over on 14th September.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor, who is known for his brilliant dancing skills, was finding it difficult to adapt to a special type of dance while shooting for Anurag Basu's Barfi!. Not that he found it difficult to adjust to the dancing steps, but it was his 'Murphy' act that was getting in the way.

Ranbir was quoted saying that he found it extremely difficult as well as challenging to do Ballroom Dancing. He added that since he is playing the character of a deaf and dumb person, it took time to feel the situation as in how Murphy will dance to music that he cannot hear.

Actress-turned-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt is keen to remake her own film Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi with sister Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. The 1991 film, starring Pooja Bhatt and Aamir Khan, was directed by Mahesh Bhatt.

Pooja was recently quoted saying that she would love to remake the film with Alia and Ranbir in the lead and that they are the perfect replacements for her and Aamir's characters.

In Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi, Pooja played the role of daughter of a rich shipping tycoon - Anupam Kher, while Aamir Khan played a reporter. Pooja thinks that the trailer is amazing and that Alia looks brilliant.

Alia is set to make her debut in Bollywood with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year. In this film, Alia stars opposite newcomers Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan, son of director David Dhawan. The film produced by Karan Johar and co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan, releases on October 19.

The latest addition to Ranbir Kapoor's growing list of admirers is his Barfi! co-star Sumona Chakravarti. During the shooting schedule of the Anurag Basu film, Sumona, a television actress, was rather impressed by Ranbir's laidback demeanour.

Sumona described her 3-day shoot for the film as an acting workshop. The 24-year-old revealed that she along with the lead actress Ileana D'Cruz used to poke fun at Ranbir on the sets.

Sumona is presently seen in the Ram Kapoor-Sakshi Tanwar show, Bade Acche Laggte Hai and is trying her hand at the big screen.

It is a known fact that during the making of Kites, director Anurag Basu had found himself cornered to such an extent that rumours around opting out of the film had started making rounds. With heavy weight names like Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan associated with the film, he could no longer just grin and bear after a point in time. Though one would have expected Ranbir Kapoor to be throwing his weight around as well during the making of Barfi!, Anurag thankfully had a much better experience this time around.

"Kites isn't an experience that Anurag is really thrilled about. In fact till then he had worked with lesser stars and definitely no superstars. From making small to medium budget films, he had graduated to the big league there. Post Kites many around him wondered that working with Ranbir could be a tad troublesome as well since he too does only a few films and indulges in quite a few 'creative conversations'. However Anurag took the risk with Barfi! and went by his instinct", says a close friend.

Thankfully for him, with Ranbir it turned out to be a much better experience since the youngster just left it on him to call the shots. Now this was quite a different experience for the filmmaker since during the making of Kites, everything used to go through the Roshans as well before being finalised.

"Ranbir follows a different approach in his films", a close associate adds, "He first chooses his directors and then films. You can see that from his past record, right from Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Imtiaz Ali. Even Rockstar took such a long time to be made but there were never any creative issues between Ranbir and Imtiaz. Similarly Ranbir stood by Anurag even though the film was getting constantly delayed. Moreover, he never once attempted to bypass the director. He trusted Anurag and left it on him to do what he felt best."

No wonder, due to better experience with Ranbir, Anurag's faith in superstars hasn't been diminished and now he is planning to pair up with him again for the Kishore Kumar biopic.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor was embroiled in trouble owing to smoking in public. However, yesterday the actor told a local court through his lawyer that he was smoking at Udaipur as a part of the shoot of a film.

The actor had been summoned by the court to appear owing to the case against him for allegedly smoking in public. Ranbir Kapoor was in Udaipur shooting for his film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.

Harish, a resident of Jagdish Chowk, had filed a complaint with Ghantaghar police station on June 1 under section 5/1 of the Rajasthan Smoking Prohibition Act 2010.

The court has fixed next hearing in the case for August 27, 2012.

After her critically acclaimed and commercially successful film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar is working on her next script wherein she is planning to cast real-life cousins Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor as brother-sister.

The film is reportedly an autobiographical one, based on the lives of Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar.

A source was quoted saying that although the film is not a blow-by-blow account of Farhan and Zoya's growing up years, it is a sensitive story based on siblings.

Ayan Mukerji's Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, is going to feature the popular track Jumma Chumma De De. The chartbuster was a part of Amitabh Bachchan's 1991 film Hum, featuring the mega star himself.

The song was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy and Sudesh Bhosle. The modern version of the track will feature Ranbir and it seems the actor will be singing a few lines in the song himself. The makers of the film wanted to incorporate naughty and peppy lyrics that would suit the Rockstar actor.

Hrithik Roshan was supposed to play the leading role in Paani. However, it is rumoured that Ranbir Kapoor is going to do the film.
