If things go as director Ali Abbas Zafar wishes, actress Katrina Kaif, who had worked with Zafar in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, might be roped in as the female lead in Gunday, a YRF flick which stars Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor.

Buzz has it that as Zafar has worked with Katrina before and shares a comfort level with her, the director is quite keen to sign up Kaif for the role in the flick, which is set in the 1970-1980 era Kolkata. The film is supposed to have Singh and Kapoor play small time gangsters, who rise to power in the underworld and become major players in the black-market industry.

Kaif was last seen playing the role of a Pakistani spy in Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger, where she was romantically paired opposite former flame Salman Khan. The actress will also be seen opposite Shah Rukh Khan for the very first time in Yash Chopra's Untitled Romance.

It is evident that Katrina Kaif's lucky charm has rubbed upon Yash Raj Films as well. While their biggest grossers till date have been Dhoom 2 and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, surprisingly the premium production house didn't quite have a 100 crore hit to their name. Now with Ek Tha Tiger managing close to 175 crores already, Chopras have found an entry into the 'club' as well.

"Really, I didn't even know that Yash Raj didn't have a 100 crore film in their kitty. As I said, things like these may matter to those who have put in their money but for me what is most heartening is that Ek Tha Tiger is doing so well till date", she continues in the same tone.

Going by the fact that her next two films (an untitled venture with Shah Rukh Khan and Dhoom 3 with Aamir Khan) are with YRF as well, she is pretty much on target to score a hat trick of 100 crore winners for the production house.

Now that Ek Tha Tiger has turned out to be yet another huge success for her, it is also continuing a winning streak that Katrina has maintained over the years. One wonders whether she ever gets surprised any more when her films score well commercially.

Confesses Katrina, "See, the nerves are always there. The tension doesn't go away anywhere. At the end of the day every film has a different story to tell and takes its own journey. You never know where a film of yours would be eventually headed for. It is not like a building architecture where based on a blue print you know in advance how it would look like. There are so many personal tastes involved that no formula can guarantee you a success."

The Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif pairing has delivered many hits in the past and it now seems that martial artist turned Akshay Kumar is quite keen to work on another project with lissome lass Kaif.

Sources claim that Akshay even has a script ready for their next film but is waiting for Katrina Kaif to be free from her present projects, which include YRF racy thriller Dhoom 3 and Yash Chopra's untitled romance, in which she will be paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan for the very first time.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar will be next seen playing the role of a modern day Lord Krishna (complete with snazzy suits and designer eyewear) in the Paresh Rawal starrer OMG Oh My God!, which revolves around an atheist, who files a case against God in a court of law for losses suffered to his shop due to a natural calamity.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif might not be together anymore, but it is quite evident that the 'Tiger' is still quite fond of his 'Kat'.

However, when the two actors appeared on a dance reality show to promote their latest release Ek Tha Tiger, it seems that Khan got slightly upset with Katrina. The reason- the pretty actress insisted that Sallu perform to a dance track from Hum Aapke Hain Koun with Madhuri Dixit, a film in which they were romantically paired opposite each other. However, Sallu was not in the mood to shake a leg but after Kaif put her foot down while on the show, Salman had to oblige.

Poor Katrina Kaif probably had no idea about the media storm that she would provoke after being spotted with a red sindoor on her forehead and Bollywood brat Salman Khan had to step in to pat her back when the lissome lass broke down recently after rumours of her secret marriage started doing the rounds.

It seems that on the day Ek Tha Tiger released, Katrina Kaif had attended a pooja at her business manager's home and on coming out with Salman, when the media saw a red mark on her forehead (which was a result of the tikka applied during the pooja), the media went in an overdrive, suggesting that someone has finally managed to 'bell the Kat', so to say. Needless to say, this made Katrina break down and former flame Salman Khan had to step in and console her after the Ek Tha Tiger screening at Yash Raj Films Studios.

Directed by Kabir Khan, Ek Tha Tiger, which released on August 15 in India, is a thriller love story about a RAW agent, who goes on an undercover mission to spy on an Indian scientist suspected of selling defence secrets and ends up falling in love with a girl with a dark secret.

The D-Day is just a few hours away. It is a foregone conclusion that Ek Tha Tiger would arrive like a hurricane. There won't be any surprise either when it reaches the 100 crore. It is also a given that with this, Salman Khan would make it four in a row (after Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard) as far as scoring a century is concerned. No one doubts either that the film will break the highest collections ever for a Salman Khan starrer. Katrina Kaif fans and followers can be assured as well that this would be her biggest money spinner till date.

With all such 'definite things' in the happening, what exactly is Ek Tha Tiger chasing? Well, the stakes are much higher. It has to be seen whether this Independence Day, the film would create record for the highest grossing day ever (hence breaking the record of RA. One). If continued buzz over last few months and the advance booking are any indication, it will most definitely do that and that too by a huge margin. Figuratively speaking, the target is 30 crores first day. Will Ek Tha Tiger manage that? Looks very likely though practically speaking, one can be 100% confident that 27-28 crores is a given.

This should be possibly with all-India collections of around 70%-80% that the film can expect on the first day. While major centres and multiplexes should be recording 100% opening right through the day, one has to also take into account that the film is seeing a huge release with a record print count which means it would be impossible for this Kabir Khan directed film to register 100% occupancy all over. Moreover with a substantial population expected to watch the film after Eid, even 70% plus all-India collections till then would be enough to break and create new records.

The first major record which is all set to be created is the fastest century ever. So far it is held by Bodyguard which managed this total in an extended 9 day week. Ek Tha Tiger is all set to achieve this total in six, if not five days. Now these are the records which would be created solely on the opening basis and euphoria around Salman. The content would do the talking from Tuesday onwards and that would decided whether the film would march towards 200 crore mark or not, hence eclipsing 3 Idiots record. However, more about that next week. Till then one can be content with the fact that 150 crores is certainly on.

Despite being archrivals, Shah Rukh Khan finds Salman Khan's jodi with Katrina Kaif 'wonderful'. At a recent press conference, Khan stated that Kaif and Salman make a great on-screen pair and both are looking good together, in Ek Tha Tiger.

When asked if he likes the chemistry between the Dabangg Khan and Katrina, in their forthcoming film Ek Tha Tiger SRK said, "I don't know about the chemistry. . . It looks like a wonderful pair. They have done films together before and I wish them all the best. In spite of what people would like to believe, I think we like all films."

He also added that he has some very serious issues with the word 'chemistry' being used so loosely. "Chemistry is too deep a word, I think only media people use it and Kajol and I always had this issue 'what is chemistry'. You know it has taken me years to get over the fact that I have anything to do with chemistry and then I come back twenty years of work and all you guys keep asking me is chemistry," the King Khan added.

After Priyanka Chopra, who decided to lend her voice for a song in her upcoming flick Zanjeer Remake, it seems Katrina Kaif wants to try the same for her own film. Sources claim that the lissome lass is all geared up to sing for her upcoming Yash Chopra helmed flick, which will see her starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan for the very first time.

It is being said that earlier, Katrina was quite eager to sing for Dhoom 3 and had also rehearsed for it but now that plan has been put on hold as she wants to croon for Yash Chopra's directorial comeback. The song in question has been penned by Gulzar and composed by the 'Mozart Of Madras' A. R Rahman.

The as of yet untitled flick also stars Anushka Sharma apart from Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.

Director Prabhu Deva, whose last flick Rowdy Rathore starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha was a major blockbuster, is now gearing up for another massy entertainer titled Namak, which would star Shahid Kapoor and now, sources claim that Katrina Kaif would be signed up for the female lead.

It had been reported a few days back that after Preity Zinta, Katrina Kaif has been roped in to star in Yamla Pagla Deewana Sequel starring Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol.

However, a source attached to the movie recently revealed that these are mere rumours and none of the aforementioned actresses have been approached for the movie. The source was quoted saying that the script of the movie does not require big roles as far as female actresses are concerned and as such, there is no need to rope in A-list actresses for the movie.

Murugadoss is signing up Akshay Kumar to play the male lead in the Hindi version of Tamil action thriller Thuppakki and now, it seems that the Khiladi, whose on-screen chemistry with Katrina Kaif has been quite a hit, has suggested that Katrina be roped in as the female lead in the movie.

The Tamil version of Thuppakki starred South star Vijay and Force actor Vidyut Jammwal as the antagonist and sources claim that apart from Vijay, who will be replaced by Akshay, all the other characters will be retained in the Hind version.

Being British is certainly helping Katrina Kaif, in bagging some meaty roles in India. Reportedly, Katrina has been roped in to play the lead role in Ketan Mehta's next. And if sources are to be believed, then Kaif has got the role because of her British accent.

Mehta is planning to make a movie on Indian princess Noor Inayat Khan, daughter of Tipu Sultan's grandson Hazrat Inayat Khan, who became a spy for England during the World War II. She was also the first female radio operator to be deputed in occupied France.

The National Award winning director says that the film is his most ambitious project till now and he has done a lot of research for the movie. However, the filmmaker is mum about the leading lady of the film. Mehta stated that now that the script is ready, he'll start the casting process, though he maintains that an A-lister will be his lead actress.

The film, which will be an Indo-British-French co-production, will go on floors in summer next year.

The trailer of the Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra starrer Barfi! was revealed recently and the Chaplinesque romantic comedy was gushed about by all and sundry. However, what many don't know is that director Anurag Basu initially wanted Katrina Kaif to play the role that eventually went to South actress Ileana D'Cruz.

Confirming the news, Basu said that he was quite impressed with the Ranbir-Katrina chemistry in movies like Raajneeti and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and as such, wanted Kaif to be cast opposite Kapoor. It seems that even Katrina had agreed to the project but later backed out as it was rumoured that she did not want to star in a two-heroine film.

Katrina Kaif is a thorough professional. The actress curtailed her family vacation to attend the song launch of her upcoming film Ek Tha Tiger.

The actress, who had been shooting in London for the Yash Chopra film with Shah Rukh Khan, decided to stay back after the schedule to spend time with her family.

However, she cut that short and flew back to Mumbai to be with her Ek Tha Tiger team for the launch of the song Mashallah.
