The shooting of Maneesh Sharma's directorial next has been postponed. The film was originally scheduled to go on floors this September.
However, writers Maneesh Sharma and Jaideep Sahni, who co-wrote the story and screenplay along with Aditya Chopra, have taken a decision to include lip-sync songs in the film.
Apparently, they weren't supposed to be a part of the film. However, the delay has led to yet another problem. The leading man Shahid Kapoor has pulled out of the film owing to other commitments. With three other projects on the trot, Shahid has not been able to readjust his schedule.
Speaking about the decision to include lip-sync songs and Shahid's opting out, director Maneesh says, "Both Jaideep and I have decided to bring in a couple of lip-sync songs which will need to be recorded before we can go on floor. However, it is sad that Shahid has understandably had to opt out because of this delay given his packed schedule going forward."
Meanwhile, the production house Yash Raj Films will work with Shahid Kapoor on another project soon.

Director Rajkumar Santoshi, who is gearing up for his next film Phata Poster Nikla Hero starring Shahid Kapoor, recently rubbished reports that suggested that the movie is a comedy on the lines of his last movie Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, which had starred Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.
In a recent interview, Santoshi, who has made blockbusters like Ghayal, Ghatak and Damini, to name a few, was quoted saying that this new film is not a comedy in the way Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani was. Though Santoshi admitted that there are elements of humour running through the plot, he added that the overall plot is an intense mother-son story.
Interestingly, actress Padmini Kolhapure, who was last seen in the 2003 Marathi flick Chimani Pakhare, has been roped in to play Shahid's mother. The film reportedly revolves around a young man, who wants to be a film actor despite the disapproval of his mother.

An actor, who is supposed to handle so many things like film shooting, promotions and tours at the same time, has to naturally be a master at the art of multi-tasking. However, actor Shahid Kapoor, who was last seen in romantic flick Teri Meri Kahaani, claims that he is very bad at it.
In a recent interview, Kapoor was quoted saying that he envies girls as they are good at multi-tasking while he cannot even remember things that happened a day before. Kapoor went on to add that he really wants to learn to be good at multi-tasking, though he knows that he cannot be so.
Kapoor, who has mostly played chocolate boy roles in the past (with the possible exception of Kaminey) will be next seen in a massy action flick titled Namak, which will be directed by Prabhu Deva, who has helmed other hits like Wanted and Rowdy Rathore in the past.

After being cast opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Barfi!, Ileana D'Cruz will romance Shahid Kapoor. The duo has been signed by Ramesh Taurani for his upcoming film Phata Poster Nikla Hero, to be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.
Producer Ramesh Taurani feels that Shahid-Ileana will make a fresh pair. Shahid, who has been busy reading plenty of scripts for the last few months, is finally looking to shooting films back to back. His last two films, Mausam directed by his father Pankaj Kapur and Teri Meri Kahaani helmed by Kunal Kohli, haven't done too well at the box-office.
So, Shahid will be doing Prabhu Deva's next film and a film with Maneesh Sharma, besides Phata Poster Nikla Hero.
Ileana's chemistry with Ranbir Kapoor has been much appreciated in the trailers of Barfi!, so it will be interesting to see her pairing with Shahid.

Actor Shahid Kapoor has been asked to lose weight for his upcoming Yash Raj venture. Since his character in the film is that of a boy from Jaipur, the director Maneesh Sharma did not want Shahid’s muscular look.
Shahid, who is known to be a fitness freak, hasn’t worked out since the last two months and won’t be training till August end. He has already lost 5 kilos and needs to lose 3 more.
Interestingly, after he finishes Maneesh’s film, Shahid will once again need to bulk up for Prabhu Deva’s film.

Actor Shahid Kapoor, who has mostly played chocolate boy roles (with the possible exception of Kaminey) will be next seen in an action thriller directed by Prabhu Deva titled Namak and Kapoor recently hinted that watching the Salman Khan starrer Dabangg inspired him to take up a role in a massy entertainer.
In a recent interview, Kapoor was quoted saying that he realized that people of his generation had not seen massy flicks, which were quite regular blockbusters in the 80s and 90s and when he saw and enjoyed Dabangg, he understood the appeal of massy cinema and wanted to do one himself, which prompted him to agree for the film.
Namak, which is set against the backdrop of the drug mafia in North India, also stars Rowdy Rathore actress Sonakshi Sinha as the female lead.

A day or so ago, it had been reported that Shahid Kapoor has been signed up to play the male lead in director Rajkumar Santoshi's next flick titled Phata Poster Nikla Hero. However, the Kaminey actor recently declared that he has not signed the film yet.
Kapoor was quoted saying that though he met Santoshi, he has not signed the film as of now. Kapoor also added that he will be next seen working with the likes of Prabhu Deva, Maneesh Sharma and Bejoy Nambiar in the near future.
The plot of the film Phata Poster Nikla Hero revolves around a young boy who wants to be a superstar, despite the disapproval of his mother.

Though Shahid Kapoor's last release Teri Meri Kahaani, failed to impress the audiences, the actor is currently on a film signing spree. After being roped in for Prabhu Deva's Namak, Shahid has now signed Rajkumar Santoshi's next. The film will be a masala entertainer and is tentatively titled Phata Poster Nikla Hero.
The producer of the movie, Ramesh Taurani has confirmed that the flick will feature Kapoor in the lead role, and will be helmed by Santoshi. Taurani also revealed that he discussed the project with Shahid for almost six months.
The plot of the film revolves around a young boy who wants to be a superstar, despite his mother's protests. He also clarified that the film is an original story and not a remake.
Though the makers have not locked the film's female lead yet, the movie is expected to go on floors this November.

Director Prabhu Deva, whose last flick Rowdy Rathore starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha was a major blockbuster, is now gearing up for another massy entertainer titled Namak, which would star Shahid Kapoor and now, sources claim that Katrina Kaif would be signed up for the female lead.
Though Prabhu Deva refused to confirm the news and insisted that he hasn't finalized anyone as he is still considering multiple options, insiders claim that Katrina is the frontrunner for the role. It is also being said that Kat is in talks with Prabhu and Eros, who are producing the movie.
If this casting coup does take place, Sasha, as he is fondly known, and Kat will be seen paired opposite each other for the very first time. Katrina will be next seen romantically paired opposite former flame Salman Khan in spy flick Ek Tha Tiger, which releases on August 15 this year.

Teri Meri Kahaani has turned out to be a huge flop, hence resulting in a step back for Shahid Kapoor who was really in look out for a long pending clean hit. After a poor start, this Kunal Kohli directed film could never recover and average to poor reviews further spoiled its chances. Audience feedback didn't help the cause either as a result of which the film's first week read a mere 23 crores.
This is quite low for the film which came with the potential of crossing at least 50 crores at the box office. The film didn't have much competition either from past and present and the stage was set for this romcom to make moolah. However audience gave a cold shoulder to the film which couldn’t enter its second week with much hopes either. The way Teri Meri Kahaani is currently progressing, it would be tough for it to touch even the 30 crores milestones. This would also mean that Shahid would have a film of his collecting less than the likes of not just Kaminey and Mausam but even Badmaash Company, his last decent success.
As for Priyanka Chopra, the film's collections would be lesser than that of Anjaana Anjaani, her last film where she had a substantial role to play as a quintessential leading lady. Reason being that even though Don 2 and Agneepath crossed 100 crores each, they were primarily Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan starrers. She would be keenly awaiting the release of Barfi though where she enjoys yet another author backed role.
On the other hand Gangs of Wasseypur revived to some extent by hanging on well at the box office. Though it's opening weekend was a mere 10 crores, the collections didn't fall badly over the weekdays as a result of which this Anurag Kashyap film enjoyed collections to the tune of 17.5 crores as the first week came to a close. Such sustenance at the box office means that the film would now be a coverage affair at the least and also a matter of prestige for the entire team since it would bring Part II with much more gusto. The stage has been set for the film's sequel and it should do much better.
Meanwhile theatres have shown good confidence in continuing to screen the film in second week as well and given it good space. This Manoj Bajpayee starrer is looking at a life time total of 23-25 crore now which should be decent for the actor who would be enjoying his bigger commercial earner till date.

A few weeks back, we had reported that Prabhu Deva, who tasted immense success with Rowdy Rathore, is planning another massy flick named Namak, which will have Shahid Kapoor as the male lead. Sources now claim that the director has roped in Deepika Padukone as the female lead to star opposite Sasha, as he is known.
It is being said that Prabhu was highly impressed with the dimpled damsel after seeing the promos of the recently released Cocktail and decided to rope her in as the lead actress of his film. Deepika, who played the wild party animal Veronica in Cocktail, earned rave reviews for her looks and performance in the Homi Adajania flick.
Namak is reportedly a massy entertainer, which will deal with the issue of drug trade in North India
