Buzz is that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next production venture will be a film based on the life of the Olympic-medal-winning boxer, MC Mary Kom. The female boxer, who is also a mother to twins, won a bronze medal at the recently-concluded 2012 London Olympic Games.
Art director of films such as Black and Saawariya, Omung Kumar, will be directing this film.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali was quoted saying that Omung brought the script to him a month before the Games began and that he was moved by her story.
Sanjay believes that Mary Kom, being a mother of two and having gone through so much struggle to become a World Champion, has what it takes to be a role model.
He added that this will be an exciting film to produce as an Indian woman boxer is rare.
The producer-director, who is busy with his upcoming production, sister Bela Bhansali Sehgal's Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, will be meeting Mary Kom for the first time on August 23 in Mumbai.
The film is set to go on floors at year-end or early next year.

After essaying the role of upright cop Bajirao Singham in the Rohit Shetty directed cop drama Singham, it seems actor Ajay Devgn might play 'Bajirao' once again, but for a different project.
Sources claim that filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who had been planning a biopic on Maratha Peshwa Bajirao and his lady-love Mastani since the past decade, is gearing up to revive the project and is also planning to replace Salman Khan, who was the original choice for the role of Bajirao, with Ajay Devgn. It seems that Salman and Kareena Kapoor were the original choices to play Bajirao and Mastani but the project did not take off due to certain reasons.
However, sources close to Bhansali insist that the film is very much on the anvil and Bhansali, who is presently busy with Ram Leela is planning to give his attention to the historical love story after his current projects are over.
In the past, there had also been speculations that Bhansali might rope in Salman's arch rival Shah Rukh Khan for the role of Bajirao, but insiders claim that Ajay and Sanjay are in talks for the Bajirao Mastani project.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who had essayed the iconic role of Devdas in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Devdas, seemed in quite a genial mood when he attended the new poster launch of Bhansali's production Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi and there are already rumours that the duo might team up again.
Readers might remember that Khan and Bhansali had shared cold vibes during the release of Khan's Om Shanti Om, which came out at the same time that Bhansali's Saawariya did. Incidentally, Om Shanti Om was directed by Farah Khan, who makes her acting debut with Bhansali production Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi.
However, it seems that all is well between the two and Khan also ribbed Bhansali in a good-natured way at the Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi event when he quipped, "I would like to thank Sanjay for finally producing a light-hearted and fun film." Sources claim that post the event, Khan and Bhansali went to the latter's office and spent hours talking about the good old days and ideas on working together once again.

Akshay Kumar and action are almost synonymous to each other. After the huge success of Rowdy Rathore, Akshay is set to act in another Sanjay Leela Bhansali production. Yet again, they are set to work in the remake of a South Indian film.
Since Rowdy Rathore is a remake of the Telugu film Vikramarkudu, this one will be a Hindi version of the 2002 Tamil blockbuster Ramana. The film has already been made in Telugu as Tagore and in Kannada as Vishnu Sena.
Sources claim that Sanjay was keen to have Akshay on board, following the success of Rowdy Rathore as well as his image of a rugged action hero.

Merry go round continues for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's leading lady in his much cherished project Ram Leela. Just when it was felt that the search had ended with Priyanka Chopra, emergence of Deepika Padukone's name led to quite a few ripples. However the lady in question happens to be blissfully unaware of the developments.
"Deepika heard about the news only from the newspapers. She was surprised herself, more so because her hands are already full with films like Race 2, Kochadaiyaan and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Where are the dates", exclaims a friend of the actress.
This isn’t all as Deepika hasn't even received any feelers either. "She is yet to hear from Bhansali Sir's office", the friend continues.
When contacted, Deepika maintained a diplomatic stance. She said, "It would be every actor's dream to be working with Sanjayji. He presents his heroines so wonderfully in his films, whether it is Khamoshi', Black or Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Actresses too have looked their best and given strong performances. I have grown up watching his movies.
On being asked if she would be game for it in her hectic schedule if the film indeed falls in her lap, she said, "Of course yes, something would work out for sure. But as of now, no one has approached me and there is absolutely no progress."
The plot thickens!

Balaji flick Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum is yet to release but it has already ruffled many feathers because of objectionable content in its trailers and it seems that filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali might be the latest to join the list.
Sources claim that the film trailer shows a scene wherein Tusshar Kapoor is dressed as Devdas with Neha Sharma and Sarah Jane Dias as Chandramukhi and Paro respectively. Moreover, in the scene, the women make a remark about battery-operated sex toys available in the market when Tusshar's character tries to convince Neha's character about falling for him instead of Sarah.
In an effort to defuse a possible explosive situation, Ekta Kapoor clarified, "A spoof is the best form of flattery. We've spoofed as many as five films including The Dirty Picture. Everyone knows that the spoofs are in a light vein. There is no personal dig and I don't think Sanjay will be upset."
Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum, the sequel to adult comedy Kyaa Kool Hai Hum is slated to release on July 27 this year.

Producer-director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was reported to have not attended an event for his sister Bela Bhansali Sehgal's film Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi as his alleged rival Karan Johar was present. However, the filmmaker has clarified that he wasn't supposed to attend the event.
Bhansali was quoted saying that he was in Ahmedabad to hunt locations for Ram Leela and that he was never scheduled to go for that particular event.
Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, starring Boman Irani and Farah Khan, is set to release on August 24.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali was spotted with his Ram Leela star Ranveer Singh, watching Bol Bachchan at Bhuj.
Although Ranveer was dressed in a Gujarati costume to hide his identity, onlookers recognized him and mobbed him for autographs. Sanjay and Ranveer had to leave the show midway to avoid the situation.
The actor-director duo had gone to Bhuj to prepare for Ram Leela, which is a love story set in Gujarat. Bhansali wanted Ranveer to get an idea about the Gujarati people and their lifestyle.
The film was in the news recently when Kareena Kapoor opted out.

While the fog of mystery, that whether Kareena Kapoor opted out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's forthcoming project or whether it was the filmmaker's decision to look out for another actress for his Ram Leela, hasn't lifted yet, but one thing is final that the duo won't be working together in this project.
And now the latest buzz about the film is that the makers are looking for a new face to cast in the movie, which will feature Ranveer Singh as the male lead.
The film is inspired by William Shakespeare's popular tragic love story Romeo And Juliet and will be based in Gujarat.
Bhansali also plans to take Singh on a trip to Gujarat in order to make him familiar with the place.
Buzz also has it that Priyanka Chopra has also been approached for the role, however the makers have not made any comment on the report, yet.
