Sasha Aagha, the daughter of Pakistanti singer-actress Salma Agha, who was gearing up for her Bollywood debut, has reportedly bagged a role in upcoming YRF flick Aurangzeb, which stars Arjun Kapoor.
Sources claim that Sasha will be playing a glamorous role in a striking new look in her debut film opposite Arjun Kapoor, who will be seen in a double role in the film. The film is supposed to be a modern take on 70s blockbuster Trishul and Kapoor will be seen playing the roles, which had been played by Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor in the original flick.
Arjun Kapoor, who made his Bollywood debut with Ishaqzaade, will also be seen teaming up with Ranveer Singh for another YRF project Gunday, which will be set in 1970s era Kolkatta.
Kareena Kapoor is mighty excited about her upcoming film Heroine and says that the movie is her most 'special film', up till now. The actress revealed that she's worn over 150 costumes, in the film, which is a record in itself.
Talking to the media at a recently held event, the actress said, "Heroine is my most special film and Madhur Bhandarkar's most ambitious film. We have used over 150 costumes in the film, which I think has never been done before in any Hindi movie."
Team Heroine will auction all 150 costumes, post the release of the movie. When quizzed about the same Kapoor said, "Obviously it's a pleasure to auction all the costumes after the film."
Kapoor will essay the role of a film actress, Mahi Arora, in the movie, which also features Randeep Hooda and Arjun Rampal in the lead roles. Directed by Bhandarkar, Heroine, is expected to release on September 21, 2012.

How the predictions failed for Joker. It was expected that despite all the murmurs and speculations around the film, its director and the cast, audience won't be impacted to a very huge degree and give at least a fair start to Joker. At the bare minimum, at least a 50% opening was expected. Guess that was expecting a lot since the audience seemed to have made up their mind not to even step into theatres. Leave aside the word of mouthing spreading out - whether negative or positive - there were hardly any footfalls that resulted in the film being labelled as a box office failure by the time Friday came to close.
With an opening of merely 20% (which didn't really show much improvement over the weekend either), Joker continued to be poor all through. After the weekend collections in the range of 15-16 crores, the film doesn't carry many hopes in the rest of the week either. Despite the fact that it managed a solo release for itself and Ek Tha Tiger wasn't a huge competition any more, Joker has proved to be a downer at the box office. Though it is obvious that the film would suffer losses, the only silver lining is that the losses won't be of disastrous proportions since the film hasn't been sold at a very fancy price.
Meanwhile Akshay Kumar has moved on and is already eyeing OMG Oh My God! as his next money-spinner. Sonakshi Sinha has seen a break in her century run but has Son of Sardaar and Dabangg 2 lined up to bring her back in the reckoning rather soon. On the other hand Shirish Kunder could well be taking a short break before announcing his next.
Other releases of the week, I M 24, From Sydney With Love and Jalpari, didn't find any favour whatsoever from the audience. Poor release, negligible show count, abrupt arrival and hardly any mention from those within and outside the industry further proved to be a death knell for these small budget affairs. Each of these is a major commercial failure.
Madhur Bhandarkar's much awaited Heroine is expected to be another good addition to the likes of Chandni Bar, Fashion and Corporate. One draws a lot of expectations from the music of the film too, especially since Salim-Sulaiman had given some good chartbusters in Fashion. The music album comprises of five tracks including an item number, a Sufi track and a rock outing.
An item number is one of the tried and tested ways to connect with masses and the ingredients comprises of a sensual voice, naughty and catchy lyrics, music that complements the theme well and a charming body beautiful to bring it all together. This is what makes the first track of the album, Halkat Jawani, a special one. With vocals by Sunidhi Chauhan, this track proceeds well with the use of word Aaja being really addictive. Add to that a diverse musical arrangements comprising of guitar, harmonium and dhol and you can hear an enhanced effect. Moreover, lyrics by Niranjan Iyengar do well with the setting too, hence resulting in an all around package affair.
The second track is the title song Main Heroine Hoon which is in the vocals of Aditi Singh Sharma. This one is a situational composition while also lending a haunting feel. The beginning has a touch of Bond theme though the song proceeds wellwith a nice fusion of 'sitar' along with modern instruments. The whole musical setup is quite good with Sanjay Chhel's lyrics rightly symbolizing the film's theme.
Album is carried forward by Saaiyan, a solo classical Sufi track in the melodious voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. This one is a soft and touching rendition that opens with an impressive male chorus, further to which Rahat's voice aptly narrates the pain and agony of a broken heart. Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics are astounding and remarkable that only relaxes one's soul.
Rock and Shreya Ghoshal is a rare combination and with the track Khwahishein, and one gets to witness that. There is a good fusion of piano and violin and though Irfan Siddique's lyrics are just average, it is Shreya who keeps the feel of melancholy alive while giving an accurate substantiation of her versatility.
The album ends with the track Tujhpe Fida which is the only duet song with vocals by Benny Dayal and Shradha Pandit. This club song has in it to take you to the dance floor with its energy and mood. Shradha's vocals appear to be really amazing in her solo portion as she creates a perfect chemistry with Benny that further makes it a nice treat for the listener.
Overall, Heroine turns out to be a good album that may have done a little better had it climbed a few more stairs up the popularity quotient. Having said that, the USP of the album is Halkat Jawani which is already making its way to the top of the charts.

Arbaaz Khan was in for a rude surprise when he woke up to the 'news' making rounds about Dabangg 2 getting pushed to March next year. The delay was attributed to the film's shooting still being on as 40% of it is still remaining. It was also being stated that after Salman Khan and Aamir Khan deliberated on these changes, it was also decided that Talaash would now push ahead. This means that instead of its originally planned 30th November release, the film was now supposed to occupy Aamir's favourite Christmas slot by arriving on 21st December, the slot left vacant now due to (apparent) moving ahead of Dabangg 2.
"This is bizarre", says Arbaaz in a defiant role, "There is no change in plan and we are arriving as scheduled on 21st December. There is no delay in the film schedule's either and we are on track. Yes, 40% of the film's shoot is left but we have dates already allocated for that. In fact we resume the film's shoot in a week from now."
He is particularly surprised that Aamir's Talaash came into the picture as well.
"I have no idea who is gossip monger behind this. May be some idle mind is just playing mischief. We are on target and anything and everything else that you hearing are plain rumours. 21st December is final for Dabangg 2", he states.
Guess that should set the record straight.
Actor Aamir Khan becomes the fourth Bollywood celebrity to grace the cover page of the globally renowned Time magazine after Parveen Babi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
He has been featured on the cover with the caption 'Khan's Quest'. The cover also reads, 'He's breaking the Bollywood mould by tackling India's social evils. Can one actor change a nation?'
Parveen Babi was featured on the cover of the magazine in 1976, Aishwarya in 2003, while Shah Rukh in the year 2004.

Aamir has been featured and interviewed for the magazine after his televisions how Satyamev Jayate garnered immense popularity through its 13-week-run. The show tackled social issues such as female foeticide, dowry, alcoholism, malpractices in medicine etc.
Jism 2 star Sunny Leone and her husband Daniel Weber have been married for over a year now, after being in a relationship for five years. Daniel, a guitarist from Los Angeles, is now Sunny's business manager and heads their joint production company.
Sunny was recently quoted saying that no script is offered to her without Daniel's permission and that she would not sign any contract without making him read it. Apparently, Sunny couldn't understand the scripts which were given to her, although they were specifically written in English. So, Daniel would always be the first one to read it.

Now, many years later, Agastya (Akshay Kumar), a native of Paglapur, who studied to become a scientist in the US, has returned back with his lover Diva (Sonakshi Sinha) to take care of his ailing father. On getting to know that the village is still under-developed, Agastya embarks upon a plan to create an elaborate hoax involving alien landings and crop circles, with the purpose of drawing the attention of the media and highlighting the plight of the remote village. Joker Review Performances
This reviewer is personally a fan of Akshay Kumar and his special brand of smart alec humour and so was a tad disappointed to see the Khiladi play the role of a straight arrow scientist, who is compelled to cook up a hoax. Kunder could have surely made the character a bit more mischievous and cheeky enough, without which Agastya seems quite boring and one-dimensional. Sonakshi Sinha, who plays Diva, the love interest of Agastya, seems determined to play the 'dumb blonde' role to perfection and actually manages to irritate one with her 'duh' persona. Same goes for Shreyas Talpade, who plays Agastya's brother Babban and seems a retarded version of Tusshar Kapoor's Golmaal character. Minissha Lamba, who plays a TV journalist, is seen in a 'blink and miss' role and doesn't get to do much but pout and look pretty...the rest of the cast, however, has put in a passable performance...

Maybe it has to do with the trailers of the film, which were unveiled sometime back, but the story of Joker doesn't really come as a surprise. The plot, about a scientist, who comes up with a hoax to draw public attention, is something that the audience already knew from the trailers, so there is no surprise element as such (except for the climax, but again, that is something quite predictable). Apart from that, Kunder does indulge in a lot of silly humour, which fortunately, makes you laugh at times as some of the gags are quite funny, though the overall effect is not that impressive. Thankfully, the movie is short enough, which is something that Kunder deserves kudos for...

We had reported some days back that YRF boys and rumoured rivals Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh shall come together for a YRF flick, which will be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan fame.
Now, sources claim that the film, titled Gunday, will have the two actors playing Kolkata based gangsters. It is being said that Singh and Kapoor will play small time gangsters from the 1970-1980 era, who rise to power and become black market mafia figures.
Ali Abbas confirmed the news but also added that the female lead has not been finalized as of now. Ranveer Singh, who made his debut with YRF flick Band Baaja Baaraat, will be next seen in Lootera and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela, whereas Arjun Kapoor, who played the role of thuggish political heir Parma Chauhan in Ishaqzaade, will be next seen in a double role in YRF film Aurangzeb, which is said to be a modern take on 70s blockbuster Trishul.
Refuting speculations that actress Sonakshi Sinha, who will be seen in a special song in upcoming flick OMG Oh My God! has landed a small role in the film due to actor-producer Akshay Kumar, producers of the movie said that Sinha does not have a role in the film.
A spokesperson from the production house was quoted saying that though Sinha will be seen n a special song go Govinda alongwith Prabhu Deva in the film, the actress does not have a role as such in the film. A few weeks back, actor Paresh Rawal had also claimed that the story of the film is such that it does not need a female lead as such.
Starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, this light-hearted film, produced by Grazing Goat Productions, Viacom 18 and S. Spice, is about a cynical atheist Kanjibhai (Paresh Rawal), who files a case against God, compelling Lord Krishna (Akshay Kumar) to make an appearance to defend himself against the charges leveled against him.
Bhatts' next outing, Raaz 3, is up for release and it is clearly visible that Bipasha Basu has turned out to be the centre of all attraction. Whether it is the promos or the other publicity designs, it is Bipasha who is hogging all the limelight. One tends to ask the makers if this is being a little unfair towards Emraan Hashmi, considering the fact that he is the most saleable entity in the film and has come to his own over the last few years. Didn't he deserve a better place under the sun?
Smiles director Vikram Bhatt, "He is someone who is really mature and understands the way film promotion works. In fact he was the only actor from the film who was throughout part of the marketing meetings that we had. I have worked with him in Footpath years ago and from the Emraan of those days to the one I know today, he has really smartened."
Mukesh Bhatt further reaffirms that it was a conscious call taken by all involved and Emraan was in the loop throughout. Moreover, looking at the film, he feels that Bipasha was just the right fit for the role.
"See, the film's script demanded the casting of Bipasha; we realised that nobody better than her could have done the film. She is the most apt casting and fitted the role to the T. In the film she is playing a top superstar who is now losing out to a much younger starlet (Esha Gupta). If you draw parallels to the real life scenario, today Bipasha has been in the business for ten years and on a threshold where she may be developing the feeling of losing out. Who better than her to have an apt understanding of the character's emotion? We knew she would do complete justice to the character and she has done exactly that."
We would know when the film releases all over in 3D as well as 2D on 7th September.
Finally, after all the wait, Joker arrives on the big screen. In the recent past there hardly has been a film featuring a superstar which has seen an air of mystery around its eventual content. More so, since the film is neither a remake or a sequel nor a quintessential action or rom-com entertainer. Even the sci-fi territory being explored is not on the lines of a RA. One or a Krrish which means the Akshay Kumar starrer is pretty much a band mutthi in the offering. Except for Shirish Kunder and his team, no one outside the film is really aware of what the film would eventually offer.
This also means that unlike a masala blockbuster a la Ek Tha Tiger, Rowdy Rathore, Housefull 2, Bol Bachchan, Agneepath, RA. One or Don 2, each of the films in last one years which promised a solid start from the very first show and fetched 100 crores or more at the box office, Joker is a film that is expected to grow as the day progresses and register some good collections over the rest of the weekend, if the word of mouth is really positive.
Though currently there are a million stories floating around the pre-release promotion of the film, eventually it should all boil down to the content. What works in the favour of this Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha starrer is that one can expect the unexpected in the final results. Also, one has to keep in mind the fact that both the actors are coming after two blockbusters each and there is a large fan-base/regular audience which does check out a film regardless of what is published or written about in various forums or social media.
While the opening few shows are expected in the range of 50%-60%, there is enough potential to grow for two major reasons. First and foremost there is no significant competition this week. Secondly, the run of Ek Tha Tiger is almost coming to an end which means Joker can consolidate it's position, especially if kids catch fancy of this sci-fi flick.
