Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi Review In Brief

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi Review Verdict
Bela Bhansali Sehgal comes up with a sweet love story that could have been sweeter…

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi Review Story Plot
Farhad Pastakia (Boman Irani) is a 40 something single Parsi man, who stays with his mother Nargis (Daisy Irani) and grandma (Shammi Aunty) in a sprawling Parsi home. Farhad works in a lingerie showroom and dreams of a perfect 'fall in love and get married' scenario. Things start looking good for the gentle Parsi when bubbly Shirin (Farah Khan) walks into his shop and sparks fly between the two.

However, when Nargis discovers that Shirin is the same Parsi Trust official, who authorized the demolition of an illegal water tank in the Pastakia household, she puts her foot down and makes her disapproval of the relationship very clear. How the above 40 lovers overcome odds to come together forms the rest of the story.

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi Review Performances
Boman Irani is one of the finest actors in Bollywood and he proves this beyond a doubt once again. Boman's Farhad is the typical gentle Parsi character who immediately brings a fond smile to our lips. His mannerisms, body language and even his intensity in the one scene where he stands up to his mother is sure to impress one and all. On her part, Farah Khan, who makes her acting debut with the film brings her bubbly persona on screen as Shirin and simply wins your heart with her 'chubby cuteness', though her performance could have been better. Other actors like Daisy Irani, Shammi Aunty and the rest of the cast too perform brilliantly.

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi Direction
Bela Bhansali Sehgal makes her debut as a director with this movie and we must say that Bela does not disappoint. There are a lot of sweet moments throughout the movie, though one does end up feeling that the humour is a bit forced at times. Moreover, Bela could have easily done away with some of the scenes that make Parsis look like a bunch of crazy old people, as those scenes do not even elicit an amused chuckle. (The 'eccentric Parsi' angle has been played again and again over the years, which was something that the makers of Ferrari Ki Sawaari understood perfectly and steered clear of). Another thing that Bela is guilty of is having a very clichéd and predictable climax, which is something of a letdown for viewers, who are expecting something different.

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi Review Music
The movie has enough melodious songs like ishq mein tere bina, khatti meethi and kaafir andhere plus peppy numbers like the title track, kuku duku and ramba samba.

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi Review Final Word
Do watch this movie to see the flawless Boman Irani in action alongwith veterans like Daisy Irani and Shammi Aunty, though we must warn that some parts might be quite disappointing…
