Ek Tha Tiger Music Review

So here is the tiger (Salman Khan) coming out of his den, roaring and waiting to hit the silver screen yet again. The most awaited pair of Bollywood (with Katrina Kaif in tow) is back with a bang, an upcoming action thriller by Yash Raj Productions. What ends up making an impression is the Yash Raj trademark, some good music, which is composed by Sohail Sen with Salman's current favorites Sajid-Wajid chipping in as well.

The album begins with the track Mashallah which is composed by Sajid Wajid. Vocals of the track are by Wajid himself who has Shreya Ghoshal joining in. This track has a good styling with Middle East flavor to it which makes it different and enjoyable. Amalgamation of spirited rendition by Wajid with the softness of Shreya's voice is quite catchy. Kausar Munir's lyrics make this track different from rest of its ilk and add another dimension of depth to this song. Mashallah also has a 'remix version' which is quite similar to the original one though it begins on a high note and has an enormous appeal for the DJs.

So what should a perfect romantic number include to bring on some good appeal? Play of piano, a soft chorus mix with of course some melodious music. All of this comes together in Laapata. The start is so mesmerizing and vivacious that it manages to create an essence of a true romantic number. As the play of track begins, you might feel like grabbing your partner's hand and enjoy a salsa to bring on the romance. This is one of the more remarkable contributions from the composer Sohail Sen who adds some soft chorus in the background while Anvita Dutt's lyrics are pleasing and attractive. The track has been remixed by Joshilay to add on the spice. Fast, catchy and as good as the original, it enhances the overall appeal.

The album is carried forward by a solo track - Banjaara - in the strong voice of Sukhwinder Singh. The magic and thrill of his charismatic voice can be truly felt in this song. Overall, a good composition by Sohail, who has used female chorus to good effect in order to compliment the brilliant singer. The blend of violin with modern day instruments is good while lyrics by Neelesh Mishra are able to successfully tie the theme of the song well with the strong composition, hence delivering a complete package. To further bring you on the dance floor, there is a 'remix version' by Joshilay. This one adds another dimension to the same song, hence justifying its presence.

Next in the lists is Saiyaara where vocals by Mohit Chauhan and Tarannum Malik take the song to a different level altogether. Clearly the best of the lot, the song is also accentuated further by Kausar Munir's lyrics that are different, enjoyable and yet so simple. Melody holds centre-stage for this song which has all in it to be the biggest chartbuster of the film. Melody rules the proceedings here and brings on the kind of effect that touches your heart.

The album includes an instrumental track - Tiger Theme – which summarizes the entire essence of the album in a quick go. This in fact is the catchiest of the lot and has been beautifully done. Also, it aptly and very appropriately connects the audiences with the film's core plot, narrative and genre. Composer Julius Packiam is able to bring thrill, excitement and feeling of passion and suspense which is in line with theme tracks of many a Hollywood flicks.

Overall Ek Tha Tiger is a good album which is successfully able to carry forward the subject of the movie. It has the right blend of thrill, romance and suspense while being a true Yash Raj piece of work, hence ensuring that audiences would bepulled to the theaters.
