Director Ashwini Dhir, whose action-comedy Son Of Sardaar will illume silver screens across the nation in Diwali this year, recently admitted that he was quite keen to rope in Kajol to act opposite hubby Ajay Devgn in the film!

However, it seems that when Dhir approached Kajol for the role, she politely refused citing domestic responsibilities and promptly recommended that Dhir sign up Sonakshi Sinha for the role. Though disappointed, Dhir agreed to Kajol's suggestions and roped in Sonakshi to star opposite Devgn. Incidentally, the last film that Kajol starred in was the 2010 flick Toonpur Ka Superhero, in which she was paired opposite Ajay Devgn.

Co-starring Sanjay Dutt and Juhi Chawla, Son Of Sardaar is Devgn's home production and the film, which is set in London and Punjab, is expected to release on November 13 this year.
