Sanjay Suri Takes The Crowd-Funding Route For 'Chauranga'

After raising funds from the general public for the National Award-winning-film I Am, producer duo Sanjay Suri and Onir are once again taking the crowd-funding route for their upcoming film, Chauranga - a love story of a 14-year-old Dalit boy and a 16-year-old upper-caste girl from Jharkhand.

Suri is going to be co-producing Chauranga with Onir. He also plays a pivotal role in the film.

The producers have taken to this particular route as they want the audience to be a part of the filmmaking process. A target of fifty lakh rupees from the audience has been set and people can even contribute via the film's website. Besides raising funds from the general public, they also have the support of the National Films Development Corporation of India. They've also received grant from Goteberg International Film Festival, Sweden and are also in discussion with other international co-producers.

Inspired by a true incident, Chauranga is a story of the violence of class oppression that still exists in rural India.
