Actor John Abraham, who turned producer with Vicky Donor, a film that was much appreciated both critically and commercially, is reportedly now planning to take on a darker project next.
Buzz has it that John might produce the sequel to Ram Gopal Varma's gritty gangland drama Satya, a film which made Manoj Bajpayee a household name. A source close to the actor was quoted saying that after a breezy comedy like Vicky Donor, Abraham was planning to take on a serious subject and when he heard that Varma is planning to direct a sequel to 'Satya', John started showing a keen interest in producing it.
A 1998 film, Satya revolves around the story of a migrant to Mumbai, who gets embroiled in the city underworld due to certain circumstances and goes on to become a force to be reckoned with. Apart from Manoj Bajpayee, the film also starred actors like Urmila Matondkar, JD Chakravorty and Paresh Rawal, to name a few.
Incidentally, John himself will be next seen in a gangster flick titled Shootout At Wadala, in which he shall essay the role of real life gangster Manya Surve, who was the first underworld figure to be shot dead in an official police encounter.
