It is a well-known fact that Indian beauty queens have always considered Bollywood as the next step after winning beauty pageants. However, it was with Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez that the trend of foreign beauty queens landing roles in Bollywood probably started.
Now, it seems that after Jacqueline, another Sri Lankan beauty queen Gamya Wijayadasa, who had come to Mumbai to try her luck in films, has bagged a role. Gamya has reportedly been signed up to play the female lead in Manish Manikpuri's upcoming flick Aalaap, a musical film set against the backdrop of Naxalism in Chattisgarh.
Needless to say, Gamya is quite excited about being a part of the project and was quoted saying that though bagging the role was not easy, it was definitely worth the effort. Aalaap also stars actors like Pitobash Tripathi, Abhimanyu Singh, Vijay Raaz, Raghubir Yadav, Murli Sharma and others.
